Mutawintji tours, long weekend, driver reviver and

Mutawintji Tours

How good is this weather!! And heaps more sunny mild days to come. By all accounts the big weekend in Ivanhoe was a success, well done down there.

And no doubt White Cliffs would have been just as successful. Speaking of White Cliffs, if you’re in the area there’s a Town Walk starting at 9 AM on Wednesday at the Sporting Club, all are welcome, sounds like a lot of fun.

I’m pretty sure, if you are around Menindee on the 4th. There’s a Fishing Competition being held there, would have to be a good way to spend the day.

Speaking of the Long Weekend, we have our Driver Reviver Caravan operating over the 3 days, 3rd. 4th. & 5th. So stop by and have a free coffee and a yarn and share your travels with us, love to see you. If you happen to be staying with us for a day or two, then our Wilcannia golf course is in tip top condition at the moment and a set of clubs is no problem to hire. Happy hour round the Camp fire at Warrawong, how good is that??

The next weekend, 9th. to 11th. is a big one at Balranald. The Five Rivers Outback Festival is on there. They have everything including live music, AND, the 150 year celebration of the Balranald Central School, so just heaps to do and see there. If you head back to the great little town on the 31st. you’ll be able to attend the Balranald Races, probably still good weather.

Fantastic weather, 5 Rivers Outback Festival and ...

Hi Everyone

What fantastic weather! You really wouldn’t be dead for quids, and there’s more to come, great sunny days although getting a bit colder later in the week. Well done John and Kim at Mt. Gipps Station, a record Dorper Ram sale just gone. And lots going on this week, then all roads lead to Ivanhoe next  weekend. Just as well you caught up on your book reading!

If you’re poking around the White Cliffs region, you need to check out Wendy’s Art group tomorrow (Tues.) starts at 1PM, and a lot of fun. Now if you’re still there on Thursday, and you’re missing your home Bowling Club, then Ron has Indoor Bowls happening at the Hall on Thursday. Then you may as well stay on and be part of the Gem Fest and Car Boot Sale on next Saturday and Sunday. There’s your week filled in!!

However if your down the south end then the Yanga Homestead Tours are on at Balranald, probably some Tag along Tours as well, (see NPWS website), and then head up to Ivanhoe. Dig in there, as you have the Kilfera Field day next Friday, eat out in friendly downtown Ivanhoe Friday night and have a ball at the Gymkhana and Campdraft on Saturday and Sunday. What a weekend.

Incidentally, if you’d be interested in taking care of a little property right on the river (fishing!), looking after a few elderly chooks and 2 dogs just out of Wilcannia, 9th. to 14th. next month give me a ring, 0429915467.

Nyngan, Gymkhana, Rivers Outback Festival

Hello everyone,

I took Sunday off, 1st. birthdays always take preference! So a bit late. What great weather, we seem to have a warm pleasant week ahead and then back to 18-20 degrees. Ah well so be it.

The big Heel Festival in “the Hill” was a successful weekend according to our ever reliable ABC breakfast presenter, good show

Now, where are we. Big news at Nyngan, you’ve seen the “Big” banana, pineapple, sheep, etc. Well Nyngan now have the BIG BOGAN. If you’re not passing that way shortly, check attached.

If you’re passing our way, then the Big screen at the Wilcannia Police Station is the place to be Wednesday night. Free BBQ at 6-30 and a good movie following, why not.

You can take a rest next weekend and catch up on your book reading, do the usual sight seeing and visiting. But the following weekend is full on.

Ivanhoe, has a fun filled 3 days. Filfera Field Day, Friday 25th. Ivanhoe Rodeo and Gymkhana Saturday and Sunday 26/27th. So, book in to the Pub, let Wendy look after you at the Caravan Park, or lay back with Barb Danson at the Gypsum Auto Port. Great little community.

White Cliffs, if you’re up there then the Gem Fest and Car Boot Sale is on the same time, 26/27th. and plenty else to see in White Cliffs.

Further down the track. We have Ivanhoe again on the Saturday of the Long weekend. Big day there with the Quilters showing there skills, all welcome ladies. I think if you’re around Balranald the Yanga Homestead Tours are happening also, check with NPWS or the lovely ladies at the Balranald Visitors Centre.

Elders weather, White Cliffs Gem Fest

Just a bit hard to pick this weather at the moment. Check “the string” before you head off probably. Or better still Elders weather. Surprising how many pockets of country has still missed out on a bit of moisture.

One Birdsville racegoer announced “there wasn’t room to move up there”. So sounds like the weekend was a huge success, and good weather to go with it.

And of course we have another big weekend for you at Broken Hill coming up. The “Broken Heel Festival” is the big 3 day event next Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Commemorating the movie Pricilla Queen of the Desert. Going to be a fun filled 3 days so plenty of room at the 2 Van Parks, and take advantage of seeing all the attractions in “The Hill” while you’re there. RFDS Base, Silverton, heaps of Galleries, just to name a few, and tune in to ABC 999, 2BH 567, or FM 107.7 and you won’t miss a thing.

Now, a mistake on my part last week. The indigenous river and town walks in Bourke, actually take place during the week. Not the weekend as I stated. And of course if you are within cooee of Bourke you should head on in ‘cause there’s heaps more going on. Luke’s outback show is still going strong till the end of September, Andrew and Sarah will have a camp oven meal for you 3 nights a week and the community will certainly welcome you. As you will be welcome to come along to the Big Screen Movies at the Wilcannia Police Station on Wednesday week the 14th. Free BBQ, free movies, how good is that!
