White Cliffs Music Festival

Date & Time:
Friday, May 18, 2012 - 6:00pm to Sunday, May 20, 2012 - 12:00am

White Cliffs Annual Music Festival is here! Come & enjoy a great weekend of entertainment & fun in the Outback.

Artists at the White Cliffs Music Festival 2012 will offer original, new works yet to be or recently released and all will have available C.D.'s for purchase.

Some of the artisits for 2012 are:

Natalie Foley - One of the most sought after country sounds in Australia. Natalie Foley generates energy and excitement everywhere she performs. Nat will be performing at the Saturday concert and will be holding workshops throughout Saturday.

Dallas Hunt - DALLAS SAYS: "A secret poetry writer for many years, I have only recently started sharing with other poets. I love the challenges it sets in my mind. My style of poetry is varied and probably doesn't fit easily into any set genre. Most of my work is based on having lived a life rich in experiences. I once had a piece of my work labelled by a reputable academic as "A slightly synical piece of urban trash". I have strived to emulate the style since. My mantra is: ALL POETS ARE MAD - BUT NOT ALL MADMEN ARE POETS. I look forward to meeting all those who attend and confirm this."

The Sideys - Usually a duo, the Sideys perform various styles of country music including Traditional, Bluegrass and Australia with the ability to back themselves without relying on digital music sequence. Both are accomplished backing musicians supplying drums, bass guitar, harmonica
mandolin, rhythm and harmonies. Annie-Ree started playing guitar and singing when her second son was born and hasn't looked back. She began her career performing at many charity concerts around Newcastle and the Hunter Valley, has played bass guitar and sung as part of the 'Lindsay Butler Touring Band' for two years and with them, has performed at many major festivals around Australia. While playing bass guitar and singing harmony is Annie-Rees preference she is aptly able to perform with lead vocals, singing a variety of country music and playing acoustic guitar. Sidey has been involved in the music industry for 40 years beginning his career as a drummer. His songwriting ability has recently come to the fore with songs being recorded by 'The Sideys' and more recently by Brian Letton. 'The Poorest Millionaire' was the only original track released on , Brian's latest album 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow', while 'Driving Through a Postcard' which was co-written with Shaza Leigh, was released as Brian's single for the LBS Country Collection and has had great success. Sidey and Annie-Ree will hopefully be conducting a number of workshops on the Saturday

Wilko - Another Broken Hill identity who frequents Tamworth and the Mildura Country and Western festival each year. Wilko will be providing the sound and light for the concert and will present a hands-on workshop at which everyone will have the opportunity to experience the technology involved such as learning to use the sound mixer.

Brittney Pavlo - At age 18 Brittney is fast gaining recognition in the Country Music scene. In 2010 she was selected as one of the top 25 girls on the popular television series, The X-Factor. Brittney has been building her reputation as a songwriter and recently graduated from the Country and Western Music Academy in Tamworth in June 2011. Her love for country music has inspired her to create her own version of the classic hits and to also write a range of songs that when combined with her voice can captivate any audience. We look forward to welcoming Britt to White Cliffs in 2012 and hope she will become a regular as has Natalie Foley. Britt is also keen to share her skills in some of the workshops.

Downtown Pickers - Mostly from Wagga Wagga and combined with a banjo player from Bathurst, the Downtown Pickers are a bluegrass group with loads of experience around the bluegrass scene. Alan will be running a banjo workshop, Keith will introduce you to the basics of mandolin, Rudi and Barry may also assist with extra insights into guitar picking.

The Midways - Hailing from Tibooburra, the Midways have been on the local scene for some time and have performed here at the White Cliffs gymkhana in the past.

Broken Hill Community Voices - Broken Hill Community Voices is a group of people who use music as a way of raising awareness about social justice issues and promoting freedom and respect for all people. Although we are a choir, our purpose is more to spread a message than to entertain people. The songs we sing are mainly a cappella (unaccompanied), with two or three part harmony. The type of music we sing includes:

* songs promoting reconciliation and social justice,

* traditional trade union songs,

*songs from other countries,

* songs including material written by choir members focussing on issues that impact particularly on our local community, such as the need to care for the environment and the Darling River.

More artists are yet to confirm.
