Land auction, RFDS Ball, Brewarrina Cup and more

Good morning everyone,

I think winter has arrived!

If you are interested in being part of our ‘fabulous west’ now is your opportunity. Blocks of land in Wilcannia, White Cliffs, Menindee and Ivanhoe are going under the hammer on Thursday here in Wilcannia at the community hall. It’s sale of land for unpaid rates, all blocks have to be sold. Ideal opportunity if you would like to relocate, or start up a much needed business in one of our small towns.

Now for what to do, the RFDS Ball is on again next Friday at the Civic Centre in the Hill, one of Broken Hill’s gala events, then the Pooncarie Field Day is in full swing next weekend, 6/7th. always a great weekend. Then Adam and Beccy are preforming at the Civic Centre in The Hill Sunday night 7th.

Next we have the Brewarrina Cup, big day in Bre. On the 13th. if you fancy horse racing, and would you believe, the Pastoral and Agricultural Show in Bourke on the 14th, the Nyngan Show on the 14/15th, and the Walgett Show on the same days, 14/15th. Best of luck.

If you are kicking round the Menindee area, the Sunset Strip Markets would be a must on the 21st. What a programme!

In Wilcannia – two events: The Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea at the historic Hospital in Ross Street, 10.30am on the 10th May, everyone welcome to have a cuppa, buy a raffle ticket or two and have a yarn to some locals. If you are in an EV you can also charge your vehicle at the front of the Hospital while you have a cuppa. Then  Mother’s Day Bingo, Sunday 14th at 2.00pm with afternoon tea and some old school photos at the Golf Club.

No rain in sight, though still be careful on our dirt roads, have a great couple of weeks, love to see you in Wilcannia where we have 24 hr. fuel, dump point, and potable water available for your van.

Take care now and see you soon, Bill Elliott. Wilcannia Community Tourism Association.
