Check road conditions, Yunta Picnic Races, Bourke Show and more

Good morning everyone,

Well back again and sorry about the absence. No grand kids hurt or lost!

Bit of rain about and they are predicting more for Anzac Day on Tuesday, suspect we will have to go to plan B. And on that note, just beware of dirt roads as there are a few storms about, could fall anywhere.

Now it seems that a good time was had by all at both Ivanhoe and White Cliffs, well done guys you always turn on a great show.

Next up is the Yunta Picnic Races and Gymkhana  next Saturday the 29th. And the same day is the Pooncarie Gun Club Championship Shoot, and a Fashion Parade that night as well at Pooncarie, you’d have to be near one of them.

The following Wednesday the 3rd. May is Graham Rodger, Country Music singer performing at White Cliffs, big night there. And the following weekend May 6th. we’re back to Pooncarie for their big Field day, always a great weekend there.

Without confusing you, the next weekend, 13th. is the Bourke Show. Big event, lots to see. And of course while you’re there you must go for a toodle on the Paddle steamer Jandra, daily cruises on the Darling. Enjoy a meal with Hully and hear his poetry at Poetry on a Plate, Tuesdays Thursdays and Sundays. Heaps more to see up there too, just call to Margaret at the VIC.

Plan to go to White Cliffs from there for their Music Festival 19/21st. and take in the Red Earth Cafe at the same time.

Tomorrow being Anzac Day, please feel free to go along to your nearest service, you’ll be welcome. It may be a bit wet but that’s nothing. Dawn service here in Wilcannia is 6-15, main service is 11 AM followed by a light lunch, this year in the Community Hall.

Just speaking to Glad in Nyngan and the Back to Nyngan weekend has been a roaring success and is still going strong! People back from everywhere, well done Glad and helpers.

Have a great week wherever you are and we’ll do it again next week, take care now,  Bill Elliott,  WCTA.
