Tourism awards, Wentworth Show, Mini Agfair Day and more

Hello all,

It’s real woodcutting weather isn’t it! And again it only takes a few points to make a dirt road really tricky. We have substantial evidence to say the Cobb Highway will soon have sealing started, and WILL CONTINUE!

What an asset that will be. The Tourism Awards went off very well in Broken Hill over the weekend, and a big congratulations to Deniliquin. I believe they took out the major Award, and of course congratulations to our local “Warrawong on the Darling”, just up and running and getting nominated.

Was out at Warrawong yesterday “campsitting”, and it really amazed Chris and I, the number of retired couples who are permanently on the road, no home of their own and quite happy that way. Going where “the wind takes them”.

Moving on, the 130th. Wentworth Show, is coming up to keep in mind, 29-30th. August, a bit off yet but don’t forget! (dodger attached). While up at Bourke, it’s all happening with Luke Thomas and his “Outback Show”, as I said last week, Bullock Team, working dogs and all, it’s showing through to early September. And that’s apart from the Paddle Steamer trips, Hullie’s Poetry on a Plate, and more fun for all in September, which I’ll tell you about later. You’ll only forget otherwise!

If you retired people are at all interested in Silk Painting, then you must make your way up to Louise at “Goodwood Station”. 8th. August it’s on, and Louise has a Writing and Photography course coming up as well. It’s on August 15-16th. Bound to learn something.

Now, over in Broken Hill they have organised an Mini Agfair Day, all exhibitors are local businesses, what a great idea. It’s at the race course, and takes place on the 29-30th. August. Again a bit off but don’t forget.

I’ve found another radio station for you to listen to--, Thanks to Patrick you can tune into 107.7 2Dry FM whilst you are poking around Broken Hill. So, remember the list, 657, ABC Dubbo, 999 ABC Broken Hill, 585 Outback Radio Bourke, 1584 Wilcannia (ABC), 103.1 FM Wilcannia, and now 107.7 Broken Hill. Of course whilst in The Hill, Silverton and the RFDS Base are both “must see’s”

Anyway, check your road closures, (Cobb Hwy. Is open!) drive carefully, stop for a yarn you’ll always learn something and make a new friend! Till next week, cheers Bill Elliott  WCTA.

I quote from a lady, “I hate cooking, I use the smoke alarm as a timer, despite this I seem to have spent a ridiculous amount of time stuffing grapes up flocks of tiny bird’s bottoms for innumerable dinner parties”.

UPDATE

It’s a case of PS I forgot to tell you!!!

If you are anywhere near NYNGAN next week end be sure to go along to their “Ag Expo” it’s on at the Show Ground, heaps of goodies for everyone and a great day out. So, if you are heading to Warren for the festivities there, (races, polo etc.) you might as well pop over to “The Bogan”. Fancy forgetting that.

Looks like a rain free week or even more, so happy travelling, always try the road less travelled. Take care, Bill Elliott.  WCTA.
