Cobb highway Ivanhoe to Hay open, Walgett Races, and more

Good morning all,

We really know it’s winter now, and doing some caretaking, a pleasant change.

Activity round the outback seems a bit quiet at the moment. The good news is the Cobb highway from Ivanhoe to Hay is open again to traffic. Please drive according to speed signs for your own safety, but all is good again.

Which means you can head up to Ivanhoe for the long weekend and join in the fun of the Pig Hunting weekend. As well as plenty going on at night. Go along and help them make a great weekend of it.

If you are going down from the top end then stop by in Wilcannia next weekend and enjoy a great day of football next Saturday at the Footie oval with multiple games happening, food and drinks available and stay overnight.

Now apart from the above the Walgett Races are on the next weekend, the 17th. If you enjoy racing then why not poke along and enjoy Walgett hospitality.

My apologies for any event I have missed but will be back “in harness” for the next addition!

Of course you can keep on top of everything by just listening to our outback radio stations, ABC Broken Hill and Dubbo, Outback Radio 2WEB Bourke 2BH Broken Hill and River Radio Wilcannia. Oh yes, and be aware of the odd feral pig on the roads, a few getting about, they’re solid to hit!

Catch you in 2 weeks, cheers Bill Elliott. WCTA.
