Popular Darling river Run, quite a few travelling

Good morning all,

Sorry about last week, we arrived at a motel at Blayney at 7PM last Sunday night. It was just not on the agenda!

We are in no mans land more so than ever it seems. Whilst things are really serious down south of the border, there are still quite a few travelling round our state and it appears doing the right thing. We have seen quite significant numbers whilst we were travelling round our kids last week and through the town here as well.

For those of you who are out and about to get away from it all, can I suggest we have some very good trips to offer out in our neck of the woods here.

The Darling river Run is gaining popularity and has many stop overs to offer. Starting up at Brewarrina and taking in all the great towns and the Farm Stays right along the Darling, and even a few detours along the way to Wentworth. When you make it to Wilcannia, take a day to slip up to White Cliffs, an hours easy drive, you’ll love it.

There’s the Long Paddock Run, from Moama to Wilcannia, and again taking in all the towns and an odd Farm Stay along the way. So, rest up at Warrawong or Victory Park and again White Cliffs is close by.

If they don’t suit why not try from Wentworth to Tibooburra, The Silver City Highway, tarred all the way. Make sure you call in to Coomba Roadhouse, Broken Hill of course, that’s a few days stop by the time you visit Silverton, out to Mt. Gipps Resort, and check out the Flying Doctor’s Base. Then drop in to Mia at Packsaddle, don’t miss the turn to Milparinka, there’s more planes than cars at the pub! Tell Mavis I sent you at the Tibooburra Store, it’s a fantastic little town.

With all of the above you still have Nyngan and Cobar waiting to welcome you.

As a matter of interest, our ever faithful RFDS is running a COVID clinic here in Wilcannia for your convenience at Baker Park in the main street. So feel free to take the opportunity to have peace of mind. It’s operating today, tomorrow and Wednesday. Then just look across the street and there’s the “Cooee for Coffee” trailer!

Hate to dampen a good week, but be prepared for 100% chance of rain Thursday/Friday and cold, cold Friday and Saturday. Yes I know I had to spoil things!

But hey, still have a great week, if you’re in town ring me and we’ll have a yarn. Otherwise take care and we’ll meet again next week, cheers,   Bill Elliott.  WCTA.
