Calendar, races, rain and more

Good morning all,

Certainly more happening than I realised, and thanks so much to you all for sending events in.

Weather wise it's definitely unpredictable. We had an enormous storm here on Saturday, complete with everything! But of course narrow. I believe nothing in Broken Hill so a great day should have taken place for the races.

Attached is copy of the calendar that the Cobar Heritage Museum has put together to raise money for the RFDS. A great gesture, so if you are near the Cobar Museum or Wood Bros. in Bourke, or of course the RFDS Base in the Hill, stop by and have a look. It goes to a good cause.

Now speaking of good causes. There's a Melbourne Cup Day Luncheon at the Ivanhoe Pub, I won't tell you the date! Have a guess. And it's in aid of the Leukaemia Foundation. So poke along there, have a great afternoon and support a worthy cause.

Also on Melbourne Cup Day is a fine luncheon at the Port O' Bourke. Call at the Back O' Bourke Exhibition Centre for all info. By the way their off-season times will be Mon. -Fri. 9 to 4 PM.

You must then head on up to Tilpa for Remembrance Day, you know the date. The community up there have a fantastic day in store for you. It's the Pink Lady Hopes and Dreams Barrel Races, featuring an "over 40's Barrel Race! They'll come out of the woodwork for that! And again it's all for a good cause, Breast Cancer. We're going, so see you there.

Also the Ivanhoe RSL Club has Paul Costa performing there as part of their Remembrance Day at 8PM. Will be a good night and meals are available. You can check it out on the Ivanhoe facebook.

Of course you are more than welcome to join any of our towns for the Remembrance Day Service, including here in Wilcannia, we'd love to see you.

Apart from that, Tri State Safari Tours and National Park tours are still operating as usual. Broken Hill Visitors Centre can get you organised there.

So, poke along the roads and highways and side tracks, weather is warming up so be sure to be aware of the pitfalls.

Till we meet again, have fun. Cheers,   Bill Elliott.  WCTA.
