Elders weather, White Cliffs Gem Fest

Just a bit hard to pick this weather at the moment. Check “the string” before you head off probably. Or better still Elders weather. Surprising how many pockets of country has still missed out on a bit of moisture.

One Birdsville racegoer announced “there wasn’t room to move up there”. So sounds like the weekend was a huge success, and good weather to go with it.

And of course we have another big weekend for you at Broken Hill coming up. The “Broken Heel Festival” is the big 3 day event next Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Commemorating the movie Pricilla Queen of the Desert. Going to be a fun filled 3 days so plenty of room at the 2 Van Parks, and take advantage of seeing all the attractions in “The Hill” while you’re there. RFDS Base, Silverton, heaps of Galleries, just to name a few, and tune in to ABC 999, 2BH 567, or FM 107.7 and you won’t miss a thing.

Now, a mistake on my part last week. The indigenous river and town walks in Bourke, actually take place during the week. Not the weekend as I stated. And of course if you are within cooee of Bourke you should head on in ‘cause there’s heaps more going on. Luke’s outback show is still going strong till the end of September, Andrew and Sarah will have a camp oven meal for you 3 nights a week and the community will certainly welcome you. As you will be welcome to come along to the Big Screen Movies at the Wilcannia Police Station on Wednesday week the 14th. Free BBQ, free movies, how good is that!

Looking down the track as usual, we have the “Gem Fest and car boot sale” in White Cliffs on the 26/27th. And at the very same time the Kilfera Field Day is coming up on the 25th. near Ivanhoe, and the Ivanhoe Rodeo and Gymkhana follows on the 26/27th.

No news from the “inside country” or “down south” of anything going on of interest. However, the various National Parks will be having their Tag-Along Tours again during the school holidays, a list of those next week with a bit of luck.

Till then, have fun wherever you go, drop in to our little town here at Wilcannia, you are most welcome, have a laugh regardless, cheers Bill Elliott.   WCTA.
